Pediatric Medication: Montelukast Sodium/Singulair

Pediatric Medication: Montelukast Sodium/Singulair

Montelukast Sodium for Kids

Montelukast is used for preventing shortness of breath and wheezing caused by asthma. It’s also used for decreasing the number of asthma attacks. You can make use of montelukast before exercise to prevent breathing problems from occurring while exercising (also known as bronchospasm).

The medication is useful decreasing the number of times your child needs to reach for their rescue inhaler. The medication can be used for relieving symptoms of allergic rhinitis and hay fever (stuffy/itchy/runny nose and sneezing).

Montelukast doesn’t work right away and should not be used for treating sudden breathing problems or asthma attacks. The drug blocks leukotrienes (natural substances) that worsen or cause allergies and asthma. It reduces swelling or inflammation in the air passages to help make it easier to breathe.

American Integrative Pharmacy (AIP), led by Dr. Neema Yazdanpanah, provides safe and proven compounding medications to patients in Long Beach, Torrance, Los Angeles, South Bay Orange County, Redondo Beach, Palos Verdes, Southern California areas, and online nationwide.
