Patients concerned about hyperpigmentation and sun damage can get a Jessner’s Peel to reverse some of the damage. This type of peel is also especially effective for treating acne because it exfoliates the skin at a deeper level and unclogs pores at the base of the pore. Patients with excessively oily skin and breakouts can get their skin under control with this type of peel.

This peel is made of lactic acid, salicylic acid and resorcinol. Lactic acid promotes exfoliation while salicylic acid exfoliates while also reducing oil. Resorcinol reduces sebum production, further reducing blemishes and breakouts. With regular peels, patients can clear up clogged pores and restore their skin health after acne. 

Since the Jessner’s Peel is more aggressive, it is typically recommended for Fitzpatrick Skin Types I, II and III only. Patients with darker skin tones will need a customized formula.
