Adrenal Fatigue

Many individuals diagnosed with Adrenal Fatigue, Chronic Fatigue Syndrome or Fibromyalgia, especially those with symptoms which are consistent with adrenal dysfunction, such as low blood pressure, or baseline cortisol levels in the low to normal range, could benefit from low dose cortisol treatment. Please consult your doctor or call 1-855-247-7948 to speak with a patient representative.

Bone Building Density

Many traditional physicians have chosen to treat patients with bisphosphonates such as Fosamax, Acetenol, Reclast and Reclast. Many studies have shown these drugs did diminish bone loss for a few years, however, the lack of new bone formation using bisphosphonates resulted in excessive calcification of old bone, and making them brittle. The use of Fosamax has also been studied determining that 1 out of 25 patients taking Fosamax developed osteonecrosis of the jaw. The use of bisphosphonates has also been associated with heart arrhythmias, muscle or joint pain, and esophageal cancer.

Other treatments for bone loss consist of checking for mineral deficiencies and replenishing them, Vitamin D, optimizing hormones, and encouraging low weight exercise.

Cancer Prevention

Hundreds of types of cancer are diagnosed today, with breast and prostate cancer being the most common. These two types of cancer can be prevented with early diagnosis and treatment of hormonal imbalance in both men and women. Early treatment of hormone imbalance may significantly decrease the risk of developing breast or prostate cancer for many individuals.

Depression

Your doctor can help determine if your depression is being caused by a medical condition such as a hormone imbalance or serotonin deficiency. Instead of just giving you antidepressants to mask your symptoms, innovative treatment options such as balancing your hormones or increasing serotonin levels can address the underlying problem to help you turn your depression around.

Digestive Problems

Visit a trained doctor who can recognize digestive problems and implement effective treatments, which may include dietary changes, supplements or other digestive aids. Treatment of digestive problems include consuming a healthier and more balanced diet, digestive aids, probiotics or supplements for inflammation.

Fatigue / Chronic Fatigue Syndrome / Fibromyalgia

Is it one disease, or two? Technically, the difference is this: CFS is a malfunction of the pituitary, a pea-sized gland at the base of the skull, which regulates all our hormones. In fibromyalgia, the malfunction is in the hypothalamus, a part of the brain that lies just above the pituitary. The hypothalamus also plays a key role in regulating hormones, as well as the nervous system.

Hormonal deficiencies: Thyroid and cortisol deficiencies are the most common ones. Cortisol, the fight-or-flight hormone triggered by stress, becomes depleted because the body is no longer able to produce sufficient amounts. Exhaustion is a symptom.

Thyroid hormone is depleted by exposure to toxins and by malfunctions in the hypothalamus and/or pituitary. Safe forms of these hormones can be prescribed, based on a patient’s needs.

Hashimoto’s Thyroiditis Disease

Do you feel like your life is a rollercoaster, with periods of high energy followed by times of extreme fatigue? Are you feeling increasingly tired or sluggish? Do you have episodes of anxiety? Do you feel like you have a lump in your throat that you can’t swallow, making your voice hoarse, causing problems swallowing, or causing a tight feeling in your throat? You may have Hashimoto’s disease, a common cause of hypothyroidism.

Treating Hashimoto’s disease patients with thyroid hormone replacement therapy, there are other medical and nutritional additions that can have a positive impact on the disease.

Individuals with Hashimoto’s disease often have low levels of DHEA and testosterone. When these are supplemented, it can decrease levels of antibodies and decrease the ongoing destruction of the thyroid gland.

Scientific studies have also shown that selenium deficiency can play a role in Hashimoto’s disease. Taking Selenium supplements can often reduce antibody levels, though selenium should not be use as a replacement for thyroid medication.

Low Dose Naltrexone has also shown to be very effective for autoimmune diseases such as Hashimoto’s disease. There are many patients on Low Dose Naltrexone who report a significant lowering of their anti-thyroid antibodies.

The immune-modulatory properties of gamma globulin, either given intramuscularly or intravenously, can be very beneficial.

Heart Disease Prevention

It is important to speak with your doctor regarding any symptoms of hormone imbalance, thyroid imbalance, diabetes or high cholesterol levels. Your doctor can test, diagnose and implement a treatment plan which can prevent heart disease.

Hyperhidrosis (Excessive Sweating)

One treatment for excessive heavy sweating is Botulinum toxin (Botox). Botox is FDA-approved for treating excessive sweating of the underarms, but some doctors may also use it on the palms of the hands and soles of the feet. Botox works by preventing the release of a chemical that signals the sweat glands to activate. You may need to have several Botox injections, but the results can last for almost a year.

Hypertension

Your doctor can help you make better dietary choices and may also encourage the use of supplements such as vitamins D and K. When plaque buildup is present, safe and effective IV therapy treatments can be implemented. If an underlying cause of hypertension is discovered, such as thyroid disease, other treatment options can be utilized to regain heart health.

Hyperthyroidism

While radioactive iodine treatment and antithyroid medications are the treatments doctors use most often, but there are cutting-edge therapies that include the addition of important nutritional supplements that can regulate thyroid balance, reduce inflammation, and improve immune system functions, all of which can be helpful in hyperthyroidism and Grave’s disease.

Scientific studies have shown that selenium deficiency can play a role in autoimmune thyroid disorders. Taking selenium supplements can often reduce antibody levels and improve the inflammatory activity seen in autoimmune thyroiditis.

L-carnitine has also been shown to play an important role in thyroid disease. Recent clinical studies have shown that increased thyroid activity may create an increased cellular need for carnitine. The studies showed that L-carnitine supplement helped prevent or reverse muscle weakness and other symptoms in hyperthyroid patients. Preliminary findings also suggest that L-carnitine may help protect against the lethal threat of thyroid storm. Low Dose Naltrexone (LDN) has also shown to be very effective for autoimmune diseases, including Grave’s disease. Many patients on Low Dose Naltrexone report significant lowering of their anti-thyroid antibodies.

Hypothyroidism

Many doctors and endocrinologists use Synthroid, which is the inactive thyroid hormone T4, and hope your body converts it to the active thyroid hormone T3. The problem is that the conversion of T4 (the storage hormone) to T3 (the active hormone) can be reduced in anyone with significant stress, depression, history of dieting, insulin resistance, obesity, diabetes, chronic fatigue syndrome, fibromyalgia, autoimmune disease, chronic inflammation, chronic infections, PMS, iron deficiency, and many more conditions. Thus, T3-containing preparations and straight time-released T3 is much more effective for the majority of people. Our treatment options include customized bioidentical thyroid hormone combinations of T4/T3, as well as time-released T3.

New cutting-edge therapies include the addition of important nutritional supplements that can help regulate thyroid balance, support a healthy metabolism, and improve your weight loss, energy, and mood.

Results can be dramatic for a wide range of conditions with overall increased energy, weight loss, enhanced sense of well-being, resolution of hair loss, improved skin tone, enhanced immunity, and significantly reduced risk for cancer and heart disease.

Low Libido

Oxytocin

This is the hormone which stimulates the libido and peaks during an orgasm. It can be prescribed by your doctor in a nasal spray which can be used before sexual intercourse. Daily use of oxytocin can provide relief of anxiety and depression or to counteract loss of libido due to antidepressant use.

Testosterone

Testosterone levels have dropped significantly in the last 20 years and is likely due to environmental issues such as toxins, pesticides, and plastics. Most countries have outlawed the use of fire retardants yet they continue to be used in the United States. The state of California has a mandatory requirement that fire retardants be added to many things such as furniture, plastics, and even fabrics, making it easy to understand why California is the number one state for low libido occurrence. Testosterone injections, gels, creams, or troches can be prescribed by your physician.

Bioidentical Hormones

Menopausal women will often complain of low libido. Unfortunately, synthetic hormone replacement will often not alleviate the problem. The use of bioidentical hormones, hormones that are exact copies of hormones naturally produced by the body, can be very effective at returning the vigor and sex drive of youth.

Amino Acids

Amino acids such as L-arginine can boost nitric oxide, a compound that relaxes blood vessels, and promotes more blood flow to the sexual organs. Gingko may also be used yet has shown only mild improvement for treatment of low libido.

Viagra/Cialis/Lavitra

We have all been inundated with the commercials for these products to treat male erectile dysfunction. They typically do not increase libido in men, but desire and orgasm is more complicated in women than in men. These medications can effectively improve the cascade of arousal in women and can increase libido and sexual satisfaction for about 30% of women and also can help women suffering from sexual dysfunction due to use of antidepressants.

Speak with your doctor regarding which treatment may be right for you

Lyme Disease

Those diagnosed with Lyme disease are commonly treated with a few weeks of antibiotics. The sooner such therapy is begun following infection, the quicker and more complete the recovery. But this treatment approach does not always allow for complete recovery and symptoms may linger.

Ask your doctor about integrative approaches that can dramatically increase the likelihood of successful treatment. This includes using a combination of synergistic antibiotics that are effective against the l-forms and cystic forms, immune modulators, directed anti-Lyme supplements, anticoagulants, hormonal therapies and medications that increase the effectiveness and penetration of antibiotics into the various forms of the Borrelia spirochete.

Migraines

Bioidentical hormone replacement therapy (BHRT) can be used to control the fluctuation of progesterone and estrogen levels, causing migraines in women. Botox injections, used in combination with natural hormone replacement, can be very effective treatment for relieving migraine pain.

Multiple Sclerosis

The use of magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) has been extremely beneficial in the diagnosis of multiple sclerosis, by scanning for lesions in the brain or damage to the spinal cord. The diagnosis of multiple sclerosis can be made even with absence of symptoms.

With the high occurrence of multiple sclerosis in women, indicating major hormonal influences. In conjunction with antiviral and antibiotic treatments, Estriol and Progesterone have shown to be a very significant hormonal modality, obtaining significant relief of symptoms for women.

PCOS (Polycystic Ovary Syndrome)

After evaluating your symptoms and performing a physical exam, your doctor may order blood tests to check for hormone imbalance. Additional blood tests such as a fasting cholesterol/triglyceride levels or a glucose tolerance test will check for signs of insulin resistance. A physical exam, including a pelvic exam, can be done to manually inspect your reproductive organs for any signs of a mass or growths.

Bioidentical hormone replacement therapy is used in treating the hormonal imbalances created by Polycystic Ovary Syndrome. During treatment, your hormones levels will be checked and monitored regularly.

Diet can also help in treatment of PCOS by focusing on foods with a low glycemic index, such as lean meats, whole grains and non starchy vegetables. This will control the excess insulin production that happens with insulin resistance. Exercise will also improve the body’s ability to to process insulin properly and convert glucose into energy more effectively.

Perimenopause/Menopause

Premarin, the synthetic form of estrogen and Provera, the synthetic form of progesterone is prescribed by many doctors for hormone replacement treatment (HRT). These hormones should only be prescribed for short term use due to their negative effects on the body. Many extensive studies have been done on these two drugs, including one by the Women’s Health Initiative, and some studies were even halted before completion. This was due to the quick conclusion in which these drugs significantly increased the incidence of cancer, stroke, heart disease, dementia, serious blood clots (lungs or legs) and breast cancer, especially in women who smoked.

Bioidentical hormone replacement therapy (BHRT) has been found to be a much safer and effective treatment for symptoms associated with perimenopause and menopause. These hormones, which are derived from plants, are structurally identical to the hormones produced by the human body. Long term BHRT treatment is highly encouraged due to it’s exceptional results in maintaining bone density, decreasing incidence of breast or uterine cancers, lowering the incidence of heart disease (stroke), and prevention of dementia.

PMS

Bioidentical hormones may be used to alleviate the symptoms of PMS when symptoms are due to hormonal imbalances or thyroid dysfunction. Supplements may be suggested to help alleviate the symptoms while treating the underlying condition.

Serotonin Deficiency

Low serotonin levels in the brain can be boosted by taking natural serotonin supplements that increase amino acids which the brain needs to produce serotonin. Many studies have shown that serotonin deficiencies can be treated by supplements like 5-HTP, St. John’s Wort, SAM-e, and even green tea and turmeric.

Type 2 Diabetes

If previous testing has already determined a diagnosis of Type 2 diabetes, you may be prescribed medication. Your doctor will discuss what treatment option is best for you. Many times your doctor will discuss dietary changes, lifestyle changes which may include supplements to lower blood level sugars.

Weight Loss

Leptin

The hormone leptin has been found to be a major regulator of body weight and metabolism and dysfunctional leptin signaling results in one of many viscous-cycles that prevents individuals from losing weight. With increased weight, leptin is secreted as a signal to the body to stop storing fat. Leptin stimulates metabolism, reduces appetite and signals the body to burn fat. Studies are finding, however, that the majority of overweight individuals that are having difficulty losing weight have varying degrees of leptin resistance. The leptin is unable to produce its normal effects of weight loss, with the severity correlating with the degree of obesity and difficulty losing weight.

HCG Injection for Weight Loss

HCG, which stands for human chorionic gonadotropin, is a hormone produced during pregnancy. Research has shown that a small amount injected everyday can aid in weight loss. While most studies were done in combination with a very low calorie diet, it can aid in the selective reduction of fat and reduce appetite, increasing the effectiveness of any sensible diet. Thus, it is not necessary to do a very restrictive diet to see results. There is also evidence that it may reduced the risk of breast cancer and improve prostate health.
