Superficial Exfoliation for Radiant Skin
Glycolic Acid Peel Available in 20%, 30%, 40% and 50% Solutions
One of the least aggressive chemical peels for exfoliating the skin and improving overall skin tone is the Glycolic Acid Peel. Glycolic acid is an alpha hydroxy acid (AHA) that penetrates quickly into the skin to break down oils. It also helps remove the top layer of skin to leave behind smooth and youthful-looking skin.
It’s the mildest type of peel available so it is suitable for all skin types — including Fitzpatrick Skin Type IV. A series of treatments are recommended for long-term results so most patients buy a package.
Altering the concentration of the peel can help to treat certain skin conditions, including:
- Acne and blemishes
- Hyperpigmentation
- Fine lines and wrinkles
- Skin texture
- Age spots or sun spots
Higher concentrations (20% and above) are only available by prescription for “office use” per FDA regulations.
